Stop being the all-or-nothing goofball
Three percent is a small number.
You wouldn’t be happy with a long-term 3% stock market return.
Lose only 3% body fat in a year of starvation dieting, and you’ll chew your arm off in anger.
A Windows update poking along at 3% complete has you throwing the laptop out of your window.
No one gets excited over 3%.
How Does 3% Math Work With Habit-Building?
So, do you think it would be challenging to devote 3% of your time to developing a good habit?
It shouldn’t be, right?
3% of your day is only 43 minutes. You still have over 23 hours for everything else, including my favorite activity, naps.
Imagine investing just 43 minutes a day in exercise, taking a course, reading the Bible, or learning a new skill. Then multiply 43 x 7 x 52.
261 hours a year.
What Can You Do With a 3% Habit?
Could you transform your body with 261 dedicated hours of fitness training?
After all, it’s just 3% of your life.
What new skill could you acquire over the next year with a steady, consistent 3% effort?
You can read the entire Bible in just over 100 days with a mere 3% of your time. Did you know that?
Just so you don’t leave here thinking I’m a total killjoy, do what you want with 3%. Blow 43 minutes a day watching cat videos. Jump the rails of your diet 3% of the time — which is 3 meals a month.
Develop the Habit of Consistency
The power comes in consistency. In fact, it’s your superpower.
100% of your life will pass by as you scroll through TikTok videos watching other people make their dreams come true.
Aren’t yours worth 3%?
Special thanks to my buddy, Dan, for the article idea.
