What’s the voice in your head telling you today?

I’m a freaking idiot. If I had a brick for every time that sound byte played in my head, I could rebuild the Tower of Babel. Unfortunately, for much of my life, I believed the voice until realizing who I am in Christ.

We Can’t Blame Our Parents Any Longer

I’ve cultivated this behavior since I was a child, growing up in a home with little to no positive affirmations. I don’t blame my parents. They did the best they knew how. Ultimately, as adults, we must own our behaviors.

Furthermore, as Christian believers, we have the Holy Spirit and a Love Letter from God filled with His beautiful thoughts about us. We have to 1) read the Letter and 2) rip out the current recording in our heads and replace it with God’s Words.

15 Bible Verses Revealing God’s Thoughts About You

1 – His Love for You Is Immeasurable

“For God so loved the world (you), that he gave his only Son, that whoever (you) believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

2 – Nothing Can Separate You From God’s Love

“No, in all these things we (you)are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us (you) from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:37–39

3 – You Are Free from Condemnation

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who (you) are in Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:1

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who (you) love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Romans 8:28

7 – God Is For You

What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us (you), who can ever be against us (you)? 32 Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us (you) all, won’t he also give us (you) everything else?” Romans 8:31–32

8 – You Are Royalty

But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. John 1:12 (soak in this one if you didn’t have great parents).

12 – God Equips You With Power, Love, and Self-Discipline

13 – God Is Your Strength When You Are Weak

“So do not fear, for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

14 – God Gives You an Abundant Life

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they (you) may have life and have it abundantly.” John 10:10

15 – God Is Your Joy

“Those who (you) plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They (you) weep as they (you) go to plant their seed, but they (you) sing as they return with the harvest.” Psalm 126:5–6

Wrapping It Up

I wish I could automatically believe His promises with the same nuclear force I do the malicious voice in my head, but it takes a lifetime of reprogramming. I have to renew my mind every day (Romans 12:2) with God’s Word.

Another way to tame the nasty voice in our heads is to remind it constantly of God’s awesomeness. It’s hard to stop a person with praise on their lips and God’s Word in their minds and hearts.

Don’t you want to accept the free gift of salvation that Jesus Christ offers?
