Robin asked, “How about the Saturn over there?”
I didn’t even look.
“No thanks.”
“Ok, no problem,” Robin replied.
Then Sandra turned to the Saturn.
“Oh, I like that.”
Game changer. It was all over from there.
That exchange led to a teachable moment for me.
We were on our way to pick up our angels from Sin City of the Southeast and it led us on a little diversion. Our 2000 Ford Windstar has 220,000 miles on it and it’s time to start considering a replacement. My friend, Robin, has a used car lot in Hwy 601 South called South Side Auto.
Since we’re in the neighborhood…
The rest is history. The car is in our carport now.
A couple of observations about Robin. 1) He evaluated correctly the right car for us. First pick. 2) When I rejected it, he didn’t keep pushing. I like that. A third bonus point is that our entire experience with him was fantastic.
Now what I learned about me is that I often make snap judgment calls that are wrong. Why did I pass on the Saturn initially? Not sure.
Sometimes I do that about people. And it’s my loss.
So anyway, if you need a good used car without the stereotypical used car salesman hassle…
