Tell a lie sometimes.
Really. We don’t always want to hear the truth from you.
Yes, your bones and muscles may ache EVERYDAY, but you don’t need to tell us every time that we ask how you’re doing. Tell a lie. Tell us that you feel great! Never been better. If your brain begins to hear your mouth speak positive things long enough, it may just start believing you. I think the opposite may be happening. If your aches and pains are always on your mind and always on your tongue, then you may be fulfilling your own prophecy. Just make it a rule to tell only your doctor and Jesus about your aches and pains. We care and we are praying for you, but we don’t need any further reminding. And neither do you.
Fake it til you make it.
Fill your mind and spirit with positive, life-giving Scriptures. Set your mind on higher thoughts. Our prayers for you combined with you speaking words of faith could truly result in real change.
Until then call, text, tweet, Facebook, email or heaven forbid, use pen and ink to write a card to encourage a friend. There’s not one person in your circle of influence who doesn’t need a word of encouragement.
It’s amazing how transferring your thoughts from yourself to others will lift your own spirits. The act seems selfless, but it may be the most selfish thing you can do.
