I was just emailing Sandra a note (isn’t that how all happy couples communicate?) and I looked at my typing to see, “This is the company we are suing”.
Hmmm….that should have said “using”, not suing.
Totally opposite meanings and my handy dandy spell checker didn’t catch it. Why would it? People sue companies all the time.
Now I understand how miscommunication can start wars.
I am a believer in the power of words, good and bad. The Bible says that words hold the power of life and death. They can build up. They can tear down. The old saying is that sticks and stones can break your bones, but words can never hurt you. That is foolish talk. Words are more damaging than a few broken bones that can heal. The pain of destructive words can last a lifetime.
We should consider the lasting impact of our words and choose them carefully.
And proofread before hitting “send”.
