Judgment Day

“For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written: “ As I live, says the LORD, Every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall confess to God.” So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.” Romans‬ ‭14:10-12‬ ‭

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” II Corinthians‬ ‭5:10‬ ‭

The Scriptures are clear. We will all face judgment one day. No one will avoid it. No calling out sick, no playing hooky, no rain checks. That day will happen and it’s much closer now than when the Apostle Paul penned those Scriptures.

It’s going to be a one on one encounter. Us and Jesus. Not only will we give an account for our lives, but many people will have to explain why they rejected Him. They might try to negotiate, “Jesus, we didn’t ever reject you.” To which Jesus will reply, “You never accepted Me. Same thing.” To never make a decision for Christ is a decision.

Others may rationalize and deflect by blaming their lack of choosing Christ on all of the hypocrites they met in church. Or their self-righteous uncle who gave them a sour stomach for religion. But in that one on one encounter with Jesus on Judgment Day, your uncle or those front row church-going hypocrites aren’t going to be there for you to blame. They may have been as bad as you thought, but you were a little short-sighted by giving them too much power to determine your eternal destiny.

Just you and Jesus. He’ll probably have tears in His eyes because of the great love He has for you. He will be broken-hearted for you knowing that it was your decision that brings your judgment. Not His.
