“It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.” Galatians‬ ‭2:20‬ ‭

This is a pretty verse. Popular amongst us Christians. We have it on our shirts, our coffee mugs, our walls, but is it true? Oh, I have no doubt it was true for the man who wrote it, Paul. But us? Me?

I’m not so sure. I want it to be, but I fail the litmus test.

I still get offended.

I still get my feelings hurt.

I still crave the approval of others.

And I’m pretty sure these things really are me and not Christ in me. Yes, Christ does live in me through the Holy Spirit, but I still have plenty of me that lives on. I embody the words of John the Baptist,

“He (Christ) must increase, but I must decrease.” John‬ ‭3:30‬ ‭
