A few years ago on a Friday night, I had popped the top on an ice-cold Miller Lite and was about to fire up the grill for steaks. A perfect ending to a hard week.

Then, my phone rang. It was my daughter. I had to take it, right? She informed me that she had a flat tire and was sitting on the side of the interstate in rush-hour traffic.

I quickly scanned through my options. I had at least three.

1. Call AAA and let her wait for two hours in Friday night rush hour traffic, and enjoy my ribeye.
2. Have her change it.
3. Set the beer down and go rescue her.

I wasn’t upset with my daughter. It’s a flat tire. Life happens. But did I welcome the interruption? Nah.

The World Will Soon Face a Devastating Interruption

The Apostle Paul said in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17,

For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.

In 1 Corinthians 15:52, Paul said that this event called the Rapture, would happen in the “twinkling of an eye,” which is about a billionth of a second.

That’s pretty fast, but since I’m ready and planning for it, it’s not going to be an interruption. It’s my “blessed hope,” according to Titus 2:13.

The Rapture Will Be a Shocking Event for Those Left Behind

For those who haven’t accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, the rapture will be a shocking, confusing, and horrific event. Their loved ones will suddenly and mysteriously vanish, although it’s really no mystery at all. The rapture has been foretold in black, white, and red for thousands of years. People just choose to ignore it.

But what will not be ignored is the coming wrath of the Lord for those left behind. Don’t be interrupted by the sudden reappearing of Jesus. Accept Him today and make plans to meet Him in the sky.

Today could be the day.
